It seems that when they couldn’t get our usd in customs they got it at the track. We were charged $60usd/gallon for fuel that was sent here for us. At the moment it looks as though Argentina is money hungry.
The temperature warmed up as the day went on. Everybody was making last minute edits before their 15 minutes of practice. To soak up the water the track crew applied a liberal amount of wood shavings on the track which were left during the practice round. We had various internet news sites wanting pictures of the new Durango prototype buggy. Lutz was in group 8. This gave us plenty of time to re-evalute our starting setup and make changes to the car as everybody else ran.
First round of practice for us went very well. When practice started the track was very dusty. The previous rain showers had left a deep layer of silt on the surface. One practice round after another pulled more and more of the soft silt off the line uncovering the surface everyone saw from warm up. We tried two different tires during our 15 minutes and were happy with the results. So far our Durango looks very promising. I wil make more changes this evening in an attempt to better an already very good car. There is ALWAYS room for improvement. However with rain in the forecast anything could happen. It seems that the weather forecast changes by the hour. We will see as the week continues! Please see the pics below.
